The Fun & Learn Mailbox is an electronic pre-reading tutorial program designed for use by children between the ages of four and seven years with cognitive and learning disabilities. The mailbox-shaped device uses Leap the frog, who peers over the top of the mailbox, to teach the alphabet, phonics, rhyming, and reading comprehension. It also introduces sentence creation, grammar, and early reasoning skills. The voice output toy includes 26 talking postcards (one for each letter of the alphabet) and three modes of play with six puzzles and games: Object/word identification, spelling, and rhyming. Also included are fun music and sound effects. The mailbox's door opens to reveal a storage compartment for the talking postcards, and to use a card, the child places it in the raised "outgoing mail" flag. The unit's face also includes three-dimensional lower case letters of the alphabet. Other standard features include volume control and automatic shutoff. POWER: Uses three double-A batteries (included).
