The Squeeze Machine is a deep touch pressure device designed for use by individuals with autism or hyperactivity disorder. This system is used for deep touch stimulation and produces a calming effect on individuals with autism or who are hyperactive. The user crawls in between two padded boards, which press the sides of the body. The source of pressure is an air pump controlled by the user. The user's head is placed beyond the boards in an area with soft, fuzzy padding, while the hands go through a bottom opening to work the control lever. The controls allow the individual to determine the amount and duration of pressure. The device is constructed from 13-ply three-quarter-inch birch plywood. The plywood is sealed and lacquered, and all edges are rounded. The air pump controls have multiple safety devices included. The remaining parts are of wood, metal, and plastic. The device is adjustable in a number of ways. The machine has a series of slots and holes to allow adjustment in width at the base of the pads, as well as slots to adjust the headrest height and slides to adjust for differing head widths. The hand control center is adjustable from side to side and from front to back. One set of pads in included, which will accommodate either children or adults. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 60 x 60 x 32 inches. The width adjustment range at the base of the pads is approximately 14 inches.
