Woodpecker is a switch or joystick computer control interface designed for use by individuals with fine motor or upper extremity disabilities. This hardware interface connects to a computer's serial port and can be used with one or two switches or with a joystick. The hardware comes with two software programs: JoyMove, which enables the user to move the mouse cursor on the screen using a joystick connected to the hardware interface; and Woodsoft, which allows the user to make action-reaction games or exercises in which pressing a switch can bring up a picture, play a sound, or launch another program. The module is also compatible with the Mind Express symbolic communicator program and KeyVit on-screen keyboard program (see entries; not included). COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible personal computers (PCs). SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows 98 or higher operating system; Pentium 300 megahertz (MHz) or faster processor; 32 megabytes (MB) memory; and a serial (RS232) port.
