Smartbuilt Home

The SmartBuilt Home is an house with built-in automation designed for use by individuals with mobility or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. The house has built-in home automation that links lighting, electrical outlets, HVAC (heating-ventilation-air conditioning) and home entertainment to a central computer, allowing them to be operated from anywhere in the home, or remotely via telephone or the internet. In-wall touchscreens show the status of the entire home through simple graphics and enable the user to control the system by touching the screen. The system also includes voice recognition of household commands for heating, lighting, security, and appliances. The home is pre-wired with a low voltage structured wiring system that allows for future additions or alterations without major disturbance or rewiring. Features include a kitchen with smart appliances and Internet access via a refrigerator or counter top monitor; the ability to pre-set scheduled tasks that the house can perform on its own; the ability to answer the door, intercom, or page from a single telephone; a home entertainment system that provides audio and video to every room in the home; motorized window coverings that can be operated at the touch of a button or via computer; pre-set lighting levels for breakfast, bedtime, and other occasions; zone-by-zone climate control; flood sensors that can shut off water when a pipe breaks; and radiant floor heating. Security cameras can be installed in baby rooms, patios, pool areas, or at the front door and be viewed through a video distribution system. Other security features include the ability to program lights to make the home appear lived in even when on vacation; motion sensors; and glass break sensors. Yearly service checks are included.
