Inclined Board

---- CUSTOMIZED ADAPTATION --------- PURPOSE: To create a custom adaptation for individuals with mobility disabilities to use when they fall and have no way getting back up to the raised position. The Inclined Board constructed from a ¾ inch piece of plywood, 22 inches tall by 48 inches long. The board has notches on both sides for the individual to hold and grab on to. At the top of the Inclined Board there are two holes by which a piece of rope can be inserted and knotted securely in place. The Inclined Board is designed to be used with a recliner. With help from another person the Inclined Board can be hooked onto the footrest of the recliner chair and the individual can crawl up into position. The footrest should only be opened slightly—just enough to allow the hook strip behind it—to reduce the risk of the footrest supports collapsing under the individual’s weight. The surface of the Inclined Board is smooth to allow clothing to slide. The hand hold cuts allow the user to pull him or her self up the board. TITLE: The Inclined Board. WEBSITE: Workshop Solutions.
