International Survivor of Suicide Loss Day

International Suicide Loss Survivor Day is an event that occurs annually around the world. Bay Area cities that will have gatherings marking the day include San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Palo Alto, San Rafael, Santa Rosa, Walnut Creek and La Selva Beach. The local event will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Solano County Mental Health ? Health & Human Services in Fairfield. Walks by the Pond is a new activity taking place every Tuesday. Walking groups meet at the Adult Recreation Center lobby around 9:50 a.m. and begin walking at 10 a.m. Walking groups are guided on a 30 minute walk by Parks & Recreation Staff. Participants enjoy these walks for social interaction and opportunities to stay active. Walkers often share with each other stories about past careers and family life. They share cooking habits and other recreational interests. Currently the walks are taking place around the pond at the City Hall campus. As the group increases conditioning, they will venture out to other areas of Fairfield.

This program emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls. You will learn to: view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance. Who should attend?:anyone concerned with falls, anyone interested in improving balance & flexibility, any who fallen in the past, and anyone who has restricted activities of falling concerns.
