What You Need to Know: Employment Law in 2018

The Enterprise - 1/9/2018

Every year brings new legal changes and challenges for employers throughout Massachusetts. As the new year closes in on us, it is already clear that 2018 will be no different. Please join Peter Moser, Arielle Kristan, and Tobias Crawford of Hirsch Roberts Weinstein TTP as they discuss new legal developments that will impact the workplace in 2018. Topics for discussion include:

· Compliance with two new state laws: the Massachusetts Pay Equity Act and the Massachusetts Pregnant Workers Fairness Act;

· Disability accommodations for medical marijuana users after the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's Barbuto v. Advantage Sales & Marketing ETC decision;

· Impending developments in wage and hour law, including an update on a possible increase of the salary threshold for exempt employees; and

· Changes at federal agencies under the Trump administration, and the anticipated impact on workplace requirements.

This event will take place in the chamber's first floor conference room. Tickets are $8 for members and $15 for non-members. To register, please contact Athena Lavoie at (508) 586-0500 x231 or email her at alavoie@metrosouthchamber.com. Government Affairs is sponsored by UMass Boston.
