Clallam Mosaic seeks assistance with Olympia visit

Peninsula Daily News - 1/11/2018

PORT ANGELES — Clallam Mosaic, a local nonprofit that works to enrich, encourage and empower people with developmental disabilities, seeks help to bring its voice to Olympia.

Prompted by an invitation from Rep. Mike Chapman, the group is planning a trip to the state capitol to participate in the first disability Advocacy Day activity of 2018 – the 37th annual Statewide Disability Legislative Reception on Jan. 31.

Initially proposed by Chapman during Clallam Mosaic's annual "Tour of Italy" gala in October, part of the funds needed for the trip were raised during that evening. However, more funds and resources are needed, advocates say.

Clallam Mosaic Executive Director Priya Jayadev said the group would appreciate assistance with transportation, someone who might be able to arrange a charter bus and driver at low or no cost, as well as volunteers to partner one-on-one with clients during the day of travel.

Chapman represents the 24th District, which covers Clallam and Jefferson counties and part of Grays Harbor County.
