SourcePoint helped guide us through Medicare maze

ThisWeek Community Newspapers - 4/19/2018

To the Editor:

Having recently turned 65, and after losing private health-care coverage due to retirement, we were looking for unbiased information about Medicare. We attended a free "New to Medicare" class and free "How to Complete a Plan Comparison" workshop at SourcePoint. Both classes were informative and gave us much of the background we needed to wrap our heads around the confusing subject of Medicare plans and the important decisions we needed to make.

SourcePoint's Medicare resources go far beyond these classes. We realized a meeting with an expert was in order and we signed up to meet with one of SourcePoint's insurance specialists to review our personal situation. Paula Dean walked us through the various optional supplemental and prescription plans available. After some consideration, we met again with Paula and she helped us sign up for the plans we selected.

In addition to her command of the subject matter, Paula was personable, patient and, despite the hours spent with us, never rushed. She made us feel like we were her priority. The other advantage to using SourcePoint is that the insurance counselors are unbiased, unlike the almost infinite number of "free dinner seminars" put on by private insurance companies to steer you to their offerings, whether they are good for you or not.

We have recommended SourcePoint to a number of our Delaware County friends. We also have raved about these resources to our friends in neighboring counties who either don't have, or aren't aware of, similar resources available.

We find it hard to believe that there could be a more knowledgeable and helpful group of experts on Medicare than the team at SourcePoint.

Our experience has been outstanding and we suggest you vote for the Delaware senior-services levy May 8.
