Moberly 5K event on April 6 to support autism awareness

March 28-- Mar. 28--Moberly'sRothwell Park will be the scene of Unfinish3d Pieces Autism Awareness 5K Walk/Run being held Saturday, April 6 to raise funds that will help support local families in need of services that help their autistic children.

Spokesperson Terri Soendker said monies will also support a college scholarship that would be awarded annually to a Randolph County student who pursues a degree associated with the educating or the professional treatment of persons stricken with autism.

Committee members of Unfinish3d Pieces are Nikki Soendker, Eryn Vargas, Andie Wiesner and Brett Boyer.

The month of April is known nationwide as Autism Awareness Month, and April 2 is designated as World Autism Awareness Day.

Cost is $25 for the 5k event being held April 6. Registrations can be accepted online at unfinish3dpieces.org or the day of the event starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Riley Pavilion. Race starts at 10 a.m.

The sponsoring local organization is a 501c3 public charity that advocates for early autism intervention, ABA therapies, and ASD parental assistance.

The 3.1 mile course begins and ends at the Riley Pavilion located near the Moberly Aquatic Center and patrons will travel along the paved road going south. The path leads persons east across the Rothwell Park Lake Dam, toward the military war memorial site and then west toward Candy Cane City.

Persons will follow the roadway going north past Deer Lake and to the parking lot area of Shelter House No. 1 located near the Holman Road entry way, make a loop at the driveway near the Shelter House No. 1 and then follow the same path back to the starting point.
