Letter: Thank you to Good Samaritans

Salisbury Post - 2/18/2018

My name is Jennifer and I was born with mild cerebral palsy 29 years ago.

Life hasn't been easy for me, but I have learned to adapt to nearly any situation. On Friday, Feb. 9, I came to Salisbury to visit my fiancé, Allen, bringing my manual wheelchair instead of my power wheelchair and we have been using it daily, walking where we have to go.

The chair did not last long before the wheels fell apart. So, on Tuesday, Feb. 13, while at the tag office on Kerr Street, we realized my wheelchair would go no further due to the condition of the wheels.

So Allen called various agencies like the Salvation Army and no one wanted to or could help us. The situation got the best of my emotions. But thank God for two good Samaritans named Joe Mullis and Traci Smith of China Grove, we were able to get a newly used wheelchair.

The point of this letter is to thank them and show our appreciation for their kindness. Also, to show that no matter what, there are still good people left in the world, and help can come from the most unexpected places.
