Olson hired as ASD superintendent

The Daily Press - 5/22/2018

The Ashland School Board has announced its decision to hire Erik Olson as the next Superintendent of the School District of Ashland.

After reviewing 27 applications, doing a rigorous review of five finalists and an in-depth interview and thorough vetting of two finalist candidates, the Board offered the position to Olson. He has accepted the position and contract negotiations are underway.

Olson comes to Ashland by way of West Bend, where he served as Superintendent. He also served the Sun Prairie School District as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Continuous Improvement. Prior to that, he served as a building Administrator in Muskego-Norway and Greenfield..

Olson's teaching career included assignments in La Crosse and Black River Falls. He has also been a Reading Specialist and served as an adjunct professor in the School of Education for Viterbo University in La Crosse.

Olson was selected, in part, because of his strong background in developing educational systems, his interest in developing relationships within the school district and the community and his deep interest in the welfare of students and staff.

Olson officially begins his tenure with the School District of Ashland on July 1. He will be around the District getting to know people and looking for a home for himself and his family.
