Two in Venice charged with child abuse

The Herald-Tribune - 8/24/2019

Aug. 24--VENICE -- A man and a woman have been arrested in Venice on charges related to child neglect after a two-month-old child sustained severe injuries while in their care. In custody are Carly Bryan, 24, and Eric Miller, 26.

The arrests follow an investigation Aug. 20, when detectives received information from the St. Petersburg Police Department about a two-month-old infant that had arrived at All Children's Hospital with a broken leg, a bruised arm and brain trauma. Doctors determined the injuries were likely the result of physical abuse.

In an interview with a Sarasota County sheriff's detective, Bryan and Miller said they had no idea how the injuries happened. The investigation found probable cause for charges of child neglect.
