Male nanny faces new charges after prosecutors allege he molested a dozen boys

Orange County Register - 8/30/2019

Aug. 30--A male nanny accused of molesting boys in his care as young as four now faces additional charges after prosecutors allege they have found a dozen suspected victims, the Orange County District Attorney Office officials announced Friday.

Matthew Antonio Zakrzewski, 30, is now facing 25 felony counts, including lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, oral copulation of a child and possession of child pornography, among other charges.

Prosecutors allege that Zakrzewski -- a Costa Mesa man who describes himself as "the original Sitter Buddy" and a "manny" on his own website -- abused a dozen boys ranging in age from four to ten-years old from Jan. 1, 2016 to May 17, 2019.

Zakrzewski has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In early May, a Laguna Beach couple contacted police, alleging that Zakrzewski, their babysitter, had touched their eight-year-old son inappropriately. According to the DA's office, the parents were "concerned for the safety of their son and potentially other children."

The couple told Laguna Beach investigators that they had hired Zakrzewski through one of his websites.

Through the course of their investigation, Laguna Beach detectives have identified a second suspected child victim in Los Angeles, and eight more across Southern California, according to the DA's office.

Police previously indicated that Zakrzewski had child porn that included a video of himself with a boy.

"These parents were led to believe that they could trust this man with the most precious thing in their entire world -- their children," Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement. "Instead, he preyed on these innocent boys and violated that trust in a vile and sadistic way."

Zakrzewski is being held on $1.25 million dollar bail. Prosecutors say that if he is convicted, Zakrzewski faces up to 490 years to life in prison.
