Muskogee man charged with domestic assault

Muskogee Phoenix - 9/4/2019

Sep. 4--A Muskogee man gunned his engine while a woman was trying to exit his car, causing her to strike the pavement in the middle of traffic, according to court documents.

Jackie Lee Wood, 59, was charged in Muskogee County District Court on Tuesday with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a revoked license and domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The charges follow an Aug. 28 incident in which Wood accelerated while a woman was getting out of his car, forcing her to fall over onto the pavement and striking her with the door frame, according to an affidavit filed with the case.

An officer later pulled Wood over, and after discerning Wood was driving drunk, discovered Wood had a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.16 percent, the affidavit states. The legal limit in Oklahoma is 0.08 percent.

Wood was released Tuesday on $1,500 bond. His next court appearance is Sept. 11.
