Morriston man sexually abused girl, deputies say

The Gainesville Sun - 9/6/2019

Sep. 6--Levy County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Aug. 28 after they say he sexually abused a preteen girl for at least a year.

John E. Biles, 35, of Morriston, began abusing a girl in 2018, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Levy County Sheriff's Office.

Biles asked the girl if she knew what sex was, showed her videos and sexually abused her on multiple occasions, the report said.

Deputies and the Department of Children and Families investigated the situation after a teacher called in to the abuse hotline.

The girl told investigators he recorded the abuse using his cellphone.

"Detectives discovered Biles did have images from this abuse on his phone," according to a news release from the Levy County Sheriff's Office. "Other electronic items are still being examined and additional charges will be filed when this investigation is completed"

Biles denied sexually abusing the child, according to LCSO.

He was charged with three counts of sexual battery and one county of lewd or lascivious molestation.

Biles was taken to the Levy County Detention Facility, where he remains with bail set at $2.5 million.
