NEW INFO: Austin police lieutenant accused of sexual abuse over years, affidavit says

Austin American-Statesman - 9/10/2019

Court records filed in Williamson County on Tuesday against an Austin police Lieutenant who was jailed over the weekend on a charge of sexually abusing a child allege the abuse took place on a weekly basis for years.

Dustin Paul Lee, 47, was booked into the Williamson County Jail on Sunday and charged with sexual assault of a child. He was still being held at the facility on Tuesday with bail set at $150,000, records show.

An arrest warrant affidavit filed on Tuesday alleged that Lee, who was in charge of the Austin police downtown area command and crisis intervention team before his arrest, sexually assaulted a teenager over the course of years, and that the girl came forward because she feared it would happen to someone else.

Lee has been placed on restricted duty by the department while Round Rock police continue to investigate the allegations. Austin police have also opened an internal administrative investigation, police said.
