Man gets three years for sex abuse of minor
The Daily Star - 9/14/2019
Sep. 14--A Schenevus man has been sentenced to three years in state prison for sexual abuse of a minor.
Anthony R. Coffin, 31, was sentenced Friday at the Otsego County Courthouse in Cooperstown. He pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse July 24, according to Otsego County District Attorney John Muehl. Coffin sexually abused a 12-year-old victim, Muehl said.
"It's just a horrible situation, as they always are," he said.
Coffin was arrested Jan. 11 for three counts of first-degree sexual abuse following a prolonged investigation, according to a January media release by state police. He was also charged with one count of third-degree sexual abuse, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count of second-degree unlawful imprisonment and one count of forcible touching, all misdemeanor offenses.
After his prison sentence, Coffin will be supervised for 10 years post-release, Muehl said.
