Convicted molester charged with raping prostitute

Appeal-Democrat (Marysville, CA) - 2/4/2016

Feb. 04--A Yuba City man sentenced to state prison in 2014 for having sex with a minor is now charged with raping a prostitute in the same year, according to court records.

An arrest warrant was issued last week for Jeraun D. Roberson after police made a DNA match, according to a declaration of probable cause from a Yuba City police sergeant.

Roberson, 29, is charged with rape, oral copulation and assault with a gun stemming from the February 2014 incident.

In May 2014, Roberson pleaded guilty in Sutter County Superior Court to lewd acts with a child in 2012 and was sentenced to three years in state prison, court records said.

In the new case, Roberson allegedly met a prostitute through an adult website. The woman agreed to meet Roberson for a paid sex act, according to court records.

Roberson met the woman at 3 a.m. in the area of Bridge Street and Tharp Road in Yuba City.

Roberson, according to the declaration, "sprayed the victim in the face with an unknown chemical agent."

The woman was held at gunpoint, raped and forced to commit oral copulation, the declaration said. Roberson then orally copulated the woman against her will.

Investigators were able to locate male DNA, which "was later determined to be a match for Roberson," the declaration said.
