Issaquah Community Services helps family flee domestic violence

Issaquah & Sammamish Reporter - 12/30/2017

Tina knows that she and her children would have been homeless had Issaquah Community Services not been there to help.

Tina left Ravensdale with her 10- and 1-year-old to escape a domestic violence situation. Uprooting her life meant that she had to quit her job and thus lose her source of income.

Luckily, Tina heard about Issaquah Community Services from the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank. ICS provided Tina with the funds that she needed to cover the rent and move-in costs for her new home in Issaquah.

"They were very friendly and helpful," she described of her two experiences being aided by ICS. "They helped me with what I needed."

With her family in a safe place, Tina was able to find work and get back to financial stability. Life has turned upwards now, but she remains very grateful for the help she received from Issaquah Community Services.

"I'm not sure what I would've done without them," she said. "It's better now, but I don't know what I would've done."

Issaquah Community Services needs your help to continue providing the life-changing aid it gives to families in dire need. As of Dec. 29, the nonprofit has not reached its goal of $100,000. The Merry Christmas Issaquah and Sammamish campaign is the organization's only fundraiser throughout the year.
