BRIEF: Bail increased to $6M for man accused of sexual abuse of a child

Jan. 03--A Linda man arrested Friday on suspicion of sexual abuse of a child was arraigned and had his bail increased to $6 million in Yuba County Superior Court on Tuesday.

Michael D. Casey, 63, is accused of sexually abusing a family member for two years when she was between the ages of 8 and 10. According to Yuba County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Leslie Carbah, the victim, who now lives out of state, told another relative about the abuse when she was in town visiting for the holidays.

According to court documents, Casey allegedly orally copulated the victim at least twice a week for two years when she visited his residence on Mary Avenue in Olivehurst. Casey would allegedly play porn while she was over, and he would sometimes take photographs or record the sexual acts. And on one occasion, the victim told investigators, Casey digitally penetrated her.

The abuse allegedly occurred between 2007 and 2010, according to court documents.

Casey faces charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, oral copulation with a child under 14 years old, penetration with a foreign object, and continuous sexual abuse. Each charge carries 15 years to life imprisonment.
