CRIME REPORT: Richmond man facing child abuse charge

Richmond Register - 1/4/2018

Jan. 04--A Richmond man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a child abuse charge.

Joshua Land, 27, of North Madison Avenue, was arrested on a complaint warrant, which stated he forcefully pushed his girlfriend's four-year-old daughter into the corner of a wall. Upon further investigation with social services, the four-year-old was able to show the interviewer what Land did to her, according to Deputy Michael Stotts.

Land was booked into the Madison County Detention Center and charged with fourth-degree assault (child abuse). He was released from jail Tuesday evening, according to online jail records.

Richmond police officers arrested a Richmond woman Tuesday afternoon after she was caught shoplifting at Kroger.

Brittany Tingle, 20, of Hillsdale Avenue, was seen by loss prevention concealing several items in her purse. Tingle went into a restroom, where she concealed two more items on her person. As she attempted to leave, she was stopped and detained by loss prevention. In total, the citation notes Tingle had 13 items in her possession, totaling $100.63.

During a search, police found a rolled up marijuana cigarette in a cigarette pack which was concealed in her front pocket, according to a citation.

Tingle was transported to the MCDC and, during a more in-depth search, jail staff found a black container inside of Tingle's pants containing a folded piece of yellow paper with a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, the citation noted.

Tingle was charged with first-degree controlled substance possession (methamphetamine), theft by unlawful taking (less than $500) and marijuana possession. She remained in jail Wednesday evening, according to online jail records.

Kentucky State troopers were called to the Hardees parking lot after an anonymous tip was received about a stolen vehicle being spotted there Tuesday afternoon.

When troopers arrived, police made contact with Amanda Hess, 32, of Rice Court, Richmond, who was behind the wheel. Hess was taken to Post 7 to be interviewed about the stolen vehicle, according to a citation.

Hess told troopers she was arrested in Texas a couple of weeks ago. When she got out of jail, she responded to a Craigslist ad in reference to favors. With no place to go, Hess contacted the man, who paid for a cab ride from Johnson City, Texas, to his home in Austin, Texas. The man was intoxicated when she arrived and she asked him to borrow his truck later in the evening, to which he said yes. When she didn't return with it, it was reported as stolen to a police department in Texas, the citation continued.

Hess was booked into the MCDC and charged with receiving stolen property ($10,000 or more). She remained in jail Wednesday evening, according to online jail records.

Steven Clay, 48, of Greens Crossing, Richmond, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he was seen for a third time in week driving with a suspended license.

Kentucky state troopers stopped Clay and asked him if he had anything on him, to which he pulled out a needle from his front pocket, along with a cigarette pack. In Clay's wallet, troopers found a red plastic baggie with a crystal like substance consistent with methamphetamine, according to a citation.

Clay was booked into the MCDC and charged with first-degree controlled substance possession (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia possession and operating on a suspended license. He remained in jail Wednesday evening, according to online jail records.
