Man gets five years for sexual assault

Herald and News - 1/11/2018

A Klamath Falls man has been sentenced to five years in prison after allegedly forcing himself on a woman last August.

Casey Christopher Rodgers, 20, pleaded guilty Jan. 3 to attempted first-degree rape and was sentenced to 60 months in prison and 10 years of post-prison supervision minus time served.

He was arrested Aug. 6, 2017, for a sexual assault the day before on the 5800 block of Harlan Drive. The victim said Rodgers pinned her between a bed and a wall, took her pants off and forced sexual contact.

Rodgers was initially arrested for first-degree rape, but this charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. If he had gone to trial on this charge, he faced at least 100 months in prison.

While incarcerated, the court has recommended Rodgers undergo mental health and substance abuse treatment. Upon successful completion of such programs, Rodgers may be eligible for early release.
