SO: Sex offender violated registration requirements

SEBRING — An ?investigation into a woman’s possible suicide led to her ?boyfriend being ?accused of failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements, ?according to a warrant released Friday.

Ronald Wayne Stivers, 49, 1701 W. Lake Drive, Lorida, was arrested ?by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with ?failure as a sex ?offender to register ?six new email addresses or computer user ?names.

Stivers had reported in December that he found his girlfriend unresponsive after she had threatened to commit suicide.

The investigation led to a search of Stivers’ phone and the discovery of new email addresses that were not registered, the warrant said.

The warrant said ?that in Illinois ?Stivers had been ?convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 9-year-old child in 1996, criminal sexual assault in 1998 and aggravated criminal sexual assault in 2000.
