BRIEF: Ames man accused of sexually abusing child

April 01--An Ames man has been arrested for allegedly documenting his sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl.

Tyler Gene Harris, 27, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, purchase or possession a depiction of minor in a sex act and possession of a controlled substance.

According to court documents, detectives were provided information Harris had sexually abused a juvenile girl and were given a video Harris had sent to another person showing the victim participating in a sex act.

Court documents show detectives were also provide an image Harris had sent to another person showing him sexually abusing the victim.

Documents show detectives interviewed Harris Thursday, where he admitted to abusing the victim and filming and photographing the act using his cell phone.

When officers searched Harris' apartment, they found just more than 6 grams of marijuana, documents show.

As of Friday afternoon, Harris remained held in the Story County Jail on $25,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 9 in Story County District Court in Nevada.
