BRIEF: Retiring Toledo Detective has devoted career to help domestic violence victims

April 09--Toledo Police Detective Mary Jo Jaggers reviewed safety plans with Wendabi Triplett just days before she was shot multiple times in 2012 by her estranged husband.

Ms. Triplett did everything she could to get away from the abusive relationship with Robert F. Carter, the detective said. She changed her phone number. She moved. She even changed her pattern of going to work.

But it wasn't enough. Carter, 48, found Ms. Triplett, 41, on Christmas Eve, 2012 in the 4400 block of Terrace View Street. What happened next still stands out in Detective Jaggers' mind as she recounts a career spent trying to help protect some of Toeldo's most vulnerable residents.
