Keavy man indicted for rape

Sentinel Echo - 5/30/2018

A Keavy man arrested in March for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a juvenile runaway last year was indicted Thursday by a Laurel County grand jury.

Teddy Lynn Fox, 40, was named in a four-count indictment for charges that allegedly occurred April 11, 2017.

The juvenile had run away from home and was allegedly found hiding under a bed in Fox's home April 12 of last year. According to police, the juvenile was "very intoxicated" once located. At that time, Fox was arrested and charged with custodial interference and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

A continued investigation into the incident by police led to the juvenile undergoing a sexual assault examination, which allegedly confirmed in late December 2017 that the juvenile had been subjected to sexual intercourse. With that information, police obtained a warrant for Fox to submit to a DNA test to compare with the sample found during the juvenile's examination.

Those tests allegedly confirmed Fox to be a match, leading to his arrest on March 12.

Count one of the indictment charges Fox with custodial interference.

Count two of the indictment charges Fox with second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Count three of the indictment charges Fox with first-degree rape.

Count four of the indictment charges Fox with second-degree persistent felony offender.

Fox remains jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Facility under a $100,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Laurel County Circuit CourtJune 14 at 9 a.m.

An indictment is a formal charge by a grand jury; it is not a conviction or an admission of guilt.

An East Bernstadt man who allegedly attempted to hit police while fleeing from a suspected crime scene in January was indicted Thursday by a Laurel County grand jury.

Steven Dale Eversole, 37, was named in a seven-count indictment for charges that allegedly occurred January 26.

On that date, deputies with the Laurel County Sheriff's Department were at a location off Lockaby Lane investigating a report concerning a stolen vehicle, where two vehicles were located that had been reported as stolen. While deputies were at the scene, a white Chevrolet pickup truck fled the scene, nearly striking one of the deputies' cruisers head-on, according to a release from the sheriff's department. The truck continued to flee police and could not be located.

During a continued investigation, information was developed concerning a man allegedly bragging about running over a police officer. The man, identified as Eversole, was located approximately two weeks after the incident near exit 49 off I-75.

Eversole was arrested and jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Facility.
