BRIEF: BLOTTER: Gunshot, firecracker and Yeti cup all figure into alleged domestic violence incident

Northwest Florida Daily News - 7/16/2018

July 16--SANTA ROSA BEACH -- A 24-year-old man was arrested for pushing his girlfriend to the ground after an argument, according to an arrest report.

A Walton County sheriff's deputy was dispatched to an apartment when someone called to report gunshots they heard in the residence above them.

The deputy contacted the man who lives in the home. He said he and his girlfriend -- who live together and have a child together -- got into an argument and the "gunshot" sound was a firecracker.

The woman said they got into a fight and she told him to leave. She said he got into his truck and "flung rocks" as he pulled out. He then stopped, got out and came toward her aggressively, yelling in her face and pushing her down.

The woman said her brother fired a gun into the ground, and the man began fighting with the brother.

The man said he stopped the truck and came back to get his Yeti cup, but the woman and her mother were yelling at him and calling him names. When he walked into their path to go get the cup, the woman grabbed him by the throat and hit him, so that's why he pushed her down.

The arrest report said all the witness statements were the same, so the man was arrested for battery.
