BRIEF: Two charged in Perry County in child abuse case

The Sentinel - 7/16/2018

July 16--Two children have been removed from a Perry County home after police say they suffered physical and sexual abuse.

Between Sept. 3, 2016, and March 31, 2018, Pennsylvania State Police at Newport said 56-year-old John Shover, of Carlisle, sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl inside a home on Paradise Road in Wheatfield Township.

He was charged with numerous offenses including multiple counts of felony statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and child pornography and he was taken to Perry County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to court records.

Shover was also charged with misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment for striking a 13-year-old boy in the home, police said.

Deanna Shover, 53, of Duncannon, was charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of children in connection to the case because police said she knew about the abuse but did not report it.

She is being held in Perry County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail, according to court records.
