BRIEF: Woman dead, 1 arrested in Shakopee domestic violence incident

Saint Paul Pioneer Press - 8/13/2018

Aug. 14--A 27-year-old woman was killed and her alleged killer hospitalized in a domestic violence incident Sunday, police said.

Shakopee police officers were called to a fight involving a knife in the 1200 block of Taylor Street just after 4 p.m. While en route, officers were told that a man had a knife and had killed someone, police said in a statement Monday.

Officers and paramedics administered medical aid to the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity, along with the exact cause and manner of death, will be released by the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

The 33-year-old suspect was in critical, but stable condition Monday, police said.

"It should be noted, the suspect was apprehended immediately, and from the preliminary investigation it appears this was an act of domestic violence, not a random act, and there is no indication there is a threat to the general public," the statement read.
