News & Observer - 11/7/2018

Nov. 07--A Holly Springs man was being held on $1 million bond Tuesday night after police say he caused a fatal wreck involving a child-care van in Johnston County.

Seth Charles Tracy, 38, was charged with felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

Tracy was driving a work truck owned by Bizzy Bee Plumbing on Barber Mill Road about 4 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. The truck crossed the center line and struck head-on a passenger van owned by Kids Country of Clayton.

The driver of the van, 39-year-old Martha Darlene Peterson of Kenly, died at the scene, the Highway Patrol reported.

Several elementary-age children were in the van, and some suffered minor injuries.

Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, according to the Highway Patrol.
