Cauliflower shipped to NJ recalled by farm linked to E. coli outbreak

NJBIZ - 12/25/2018

Adam Bros. Farming Inc. shipped affected cauliflower to New Jersey, according to a release, along with nine other states, Mexico and Canada.

Red and green leaf lettuce were not shipped to New Jersey, according to the company.

The affected produce was harvested between Nov. 27 and Nov. 30 from “particular fields” and does not involve all of Adam Bros.’ products. No additional illnesses have been linked to the latest recall, and the company said it is acting “out of an abundance of caution.”

So far, 59 people nationwide have fallen ill in relation to the romaine lettuce E. coli outbreak, 12 of them in New Jersey.

Symptoms of E. coli include severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Some people may also have a low-grade fever. Additionally, this particular strain of E. coli may produce Shiga toxin and cause hemolytic uremic syndrome, a potentially life-threatening kidney disease in 5 percent to 10 percent of people.

Consumers who’ve purchased the products are urged to return them to retailers or destroy them. The company may be reached with questions at 1-805-925-0339. Copyright 2018 BridgeTower Media. All Rights Reserved.
