BRIEF: Fire District 6, Public Health Partner for Car Seat Checkup

The Chronicle - 5/17/2018

May 17--Lewis County Fire District 6 and Lewis County Public Health and Social Services have scheduled a free car seat and booster seat inspection event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.May 25 at the district's station at 2123 Jackson Highway in Chehalis.

More than half of all car seats checked in Lewis County in 2017 were installed incorrectly, according to a release from the district. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 46 percent of car and booster seats are misused.

With that in mind, a fire district staff member has since been certified as a child passenger safety technician.

The free clinic is intended to provide training to parents and guardians on how to install the devices correctly.

For more information, contact Casey Peters at Lewis County Public Health and Social Services at 360-740-1424.
