BRIEF: Monadnock Progressive Alliance to host discussion about opioids

July 10--The Monadnock Progressive Alliance will host a talk in Keene this evening about opioids in New Hampshire.
The talk is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. at 49 Community Way, across from the Monadnock Food Co-op.
It will feature Mary Drew, who founded the Jaffrey-based nonprofit organization Reality Check in 2009. Reality Check provides drug and alcohol prevention planning to school districts and communities, as well as recovery support to people with substance use disorders.
The talk, "Opioid State -- New Hampshire's Epidemic," will be followed by a question and answer session with Drew.
New Hampshire is at the center of the opioid crisis. In 2016, the Granite State had the nation's third highest opioid death rate per capita, after West Virginia and Ohio, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
