BRIEF: Colorado Public Health issues ozone alert through 4 p.m. Wednesday

July 11--The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued at 4 p.m. Tuesday an Ozone Action Day Alert for the Front Range Urban Corridor.

The alert remains active until 4 p.m. Wednesday from El Paso County north to Larimer and Weld counties, including the Denver-Boulder area, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Greeley, according to a CDPHE news release.

Warm temperatures and abundant sunshine will allow ozone concentrations to reach the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" category on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highest levels along the southern and western suburbs of Denver northward along the foothills to western Ft. Collins. In these areas, active children and adults, and people with lung disease, such as asthma, should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion from noon until 8 p.m.
