NJ company recalls over 2,300 pounds of dumplings

The Class I recall, which is defined by FSIS as “a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death,” includes various weight packages of Bahar MANTI Gourmet Mediterranean Brand Beef Dumplings with an expiration date between May 20, 2019 and Aug. 29, 2019.

Recalled products, which were shipped to distributors and retailers in New Jersey, are marked with “EST. 51290” inside the USDA mark of inspection. It was not immediately clear why the products had a mark of inspection if they had not been federally inspected.

The issue was discovered by FSIS while conducting a review of the establishment. Though there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions to these dumplings, a release from FSIS urges consumers who bought them to throw them out or return them to the place of purchase.

A representative from Bahar LLC had no comment about the recall.
