Veterans of Foreign Wars Grant Farmer Post 992: Bigger screens make better bingo

Walla Walla Union-Bulletin - 1/15/2019

Jan. 14--Veterans of Foreign Wars Grant Farmer Post 992 had a merry Christmas, indeed.

Post Commander Trina Parrish reported in the January newsletter that Klicker's gifted the post a red, white and blue tree and set it up. Trina and Auxiliary President Lorena Garanzuay decorated it.

In addition, Land Title Company donated two 50-inch smart TVs for post use. Trina said they have replaced very small screens for the post's bingo game fundraisers.

"The new TVs are on the walls and the bingo balls being called are huge," she remarked.

Bingo is played at the post with early bird games at 6:15 p.m. and regular bingo at 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays throughout January.

Proceeds keep the Post open and operating and help benefit veterans.

Post members made the Dec. 25 holiday special for five families for whom they provided Christmas cheer. The Combat Veterans donated four bicycles to this cause and members Sherri and Fred Moore, Cindi Caughron and Susan donated toys and diapers to go with donated nonperishable food items.

Lorena will serve with a full slate of auxiliary officers, including Cindi as senior vice president; Phong Brown, junior vice president; Anne Heaton, secretary; Fred Moore, treasurer; and Shannan Elsasser, chaplain.

Trina's fellow post officers are Joe Koning, senior vice commander; Larry Diederich, junior vice commander; Don Schack, chaplain; and Russ Heaton, quartermaster.

Interested in membership? Visit the post at 102 N. Colville St. or call 509-525-1310, 4 p.m.-close Monday-Friday.
