---- CUSTOMIZED ADAPTATION --------- PURPOSE: To create a custom adaptation of a golf club for a child with mobility and severe physical disabilities. The child has limited movement in swinging a golf club from his wheelchair even with assistance. The child's mother had observed a teacher using a long plastic pipe with students to roll a golf ball through a target. The adaptation had a straight tube, which would not work well with this particular child. The parents bought several sections of 2 x 2 inch PVC pipe and an angled connector. The pipes were connected using duct tape around the joints to avoid any sharp edges from the piping but PVC cement would work as well for connecting the joints. After the piping is connected and the make-shift golf club is assembled all that is needed are some golf balls and crafting some small boxes with an opening in them to serve as targets for the balls. The child and parents painted the boxes and decorated them using a hot glue gun and a colored-foam pieces to create different designs, including a shark theme. TITLE: Golfing the Junior Way.
