The PHC-3 Portable Hand Control is a vehicle hand control designed for use by individuals with lower extremity disabilities or amputation, mobility disabilities, or spinal cord injury. This hand control can be carried in a briefcase or airline carry on luggage when its "legs" are telescoped and folded. The control is designed for use in vehicles with automatic transmissions, including automobiles, light trucks, many specialized industrial vehicles, golf carts, and some arcade games. Power brakes are recommended. The standard model of this hand control is operated with the left hand, while steering is done with the driver’s right hand. Throttle is increased by pulling back on the handle, while braking is accomplished by pushing forward on the handle. The control can be installed from a wheelchair without tools. OPTIONS: The European model(PHC IIIR) is operated with the driver's right hand, while steering is done with the left. Models sold in Japan have a modified throttle clamp to allow greater pedal travel when used in mini-cars sold in Japan that have little clearance behind the throttle pedal. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 17.25 x 4.75 x 2.5 inches when folded. The extension of throttle leg is 19 to 26 inches; the extension of brake leg is 17 to 24.5 inches. WEIGHT: 2.2 pounds.
