Naxos Audiobooks are recorded books designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The catalog focuses on classic literature, including more than 200 fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama titles. All books are digitally recorded, with performances by actors accompanied by classical music (and sound effects in many of the Junior Classics range). Books are available on CD or cassette. Authors include Homer, Herodotus, Sophocles from the ancient world; Dante, Chaucer and Malory from the medieval period; Spenser, Shakespeare and Milton from the 16th and 17th centuries; Defoe, Sterne and Swift from the 18th century; the great English, Russian and French novelists of the 19th century; and James Joyce, Marcel Proust, Joseph Conrad, and Henry James from the 20th century. Other titles include original histories, such as The History of Classical Music, The History of Opera, and The History of Theatre; and Junior Classics, a collection of children's classics as well as re-told accounts of great legends and stories, written espeically for the series.
