CUSTOM ADAPTATION PURPOSE: To enable an individual with spinal cord injury to reach items at the foot of the bed. The handle was cut off an existing reacher with U-shaped gripping jaws. A piece of aluminum tubing was added to extend the length of the reacher and a wire extension was soldered to the wire that activates the jaws when the trigger is squeezed.
