TalkingAid Wireless is a keyboard communicator designed for use by individuals with speech or communication disabilities. This text-to-speech device can be used for cell phone calls and wireless e-mails, and can be operated in three modes. In Normal mode, messages are spoken as typed on the alphabetic keyboard. Chat mode is for writing and handling secondary conversations. In Message mode, stored phrases can be recalled with a single key selection. Up to three messages can be stored for each of the 63 character keys. Other features include DECtalk speech synthesis with seven voices; a large, multi-line display; dedicated yes and no keys; word completion options; voice recording; a USB connection for personal computer (PC) keyboard emulation; an address book for phone numbers and e-mail addresses; and one or two switch scanning with an on-screen scanning display in QWERTY or ABCDE configuration. The unit has a rugged, moisture-resistant case with a built-in removable keyguard, and comes with an earphone jack for private listening. POWER: Uses a field replaceable battery.
