Beam is a mouse emulator designed for use by individuals with spinal cord injury or severe physical or upper extremity disabilities. This device is generally used by those with adaptive switches who wish to break the hard connection between the switch and their computers.
Beam enables a HeadMouse Extreme (see entry) user to actuate the left, right, and middle mouse buttons using adaptive switches without a direct connection to the HeadMouse. For a Swifty (see entry) user, the Beam sends up to three button events that Swifty interprets as mouse buttons, joystick buttons or keyboard keys based on the Swifty configuration. This device can connect to standard adaptive switches (not included) that use 1/8-inch (3.5-millimeter) plugs and supports up to three switches. Single and dual switches with mono or stereo plugs may be used. with Beam. POWER: Uses three internal double-A alkaline batteries. DIMENSIONS: 3.75 x 2.5 x 1.1 inches. WEIGHT: Less than 5 ounces including batteries. WARRANTY: One-year warranty.
