KeyboardCommunicator, model KC200, is a keyboard communicator designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities. Featuring DECtalk text-to-speech synthesizer, it gives users flexible, high-quality speech output in a choice of nine voices. The device is designed to be compatible with PS/2 and USB keyboard interfaces, enabling users to use their own keyboards with the device. The PS/2 version offers external printer support and typematic setting (not available on the USB version). This is especially beneficial to users who require specialized keyboards such as large-button keyboards, ergonomics keyboards, custom keyboards with key guards, etc. Other features include a liquid crystal display (LCD) with two lines of sixteen characters; unlimited vocabulary; "Line Mode," "Word Mode," and "Letter Mode"; storage for two sets of up to 36 commonly used phrases in memo memory; and text substitution memory for abbreviation expansions. The unit includes a mini standard PS/2 Keyboard a base board, and a built-in audio amplifier and speaker.
