The Synapse ADA Workstation is an accessible computer terminal designed for use by individuals with visual, mobility, physical, cognitive, or learning disabilities. This unit provides a hardware interface to a computer network or mainframe. Features are integrated for use in environments where more than one accommodation technology may be required, such as schools, libraries, the workplace, or assessment and evaluation centers. Available features include speech recognition, screen reader software, screen and print magnification, word prediction, compensatory tools for learning differences, head tracking or other alternative pointing technologies. The unit can read BookManager's and RFB (Recordings for the Blind) electronic text documents, periodicals and books. The user can scan and magnify printed materials through a high-resolution scanner, and images can be printed at increased magnification. Other available features include Braille keyboard tops, Braille translation software, refreshable Braille display, and Braille embosser; wheelchair-accessible motorized and adjustable work surfaces; ergonomic keyboards, mouse pads, adjustable monitor and keyboard arms, and ergonomic chairs and workstation furniture; and support for multiple languages.
