---- PROTOTYPE --------- PURPOSE: To create a prototype of a miniature auditory canal hearing device for individuals with hearing disabilities. Siemens has launched a new miniature auditory cancel hearing device (iMini) which is custom-made for each individual customer to fit perfectly within the cancel and is practically invisible from the outside. The custom fabrication process utilizes computer-assisted technology to determine how the individual components can be optimally arranged in the individual housing shell. Because the iMini is located deep within the hearing canal, it can make use of the ear's natural, acoustic amplification. BestSound technology makes sure the sound is pleasant and improves speech comprehension. A fine, invisible nylon thread is used to pull the hearing system out. Siemens is offering a variety of bright colors in the U.S. and white and dark-brown caps in Europe for the device. No matter what color choice the iMini still disappears equally well in the ear.
