---- PROTOTYPE --------- PURPOSE: To design a prototype of an adaptive device which allows children and adults with OCD, ADHD, and/or Autism Spectrum disorders a way to release excess energy through repetitive hand motions and various other fidgets. Fidgeting and the need for repetitive moment can be disruptive in the academic and work environment for children and adults. The Squizits kit was developed in collaboration with a child with OCD and ADHD. It provides the user with a way to release excess energy through repetitive hand motions and various fidgets. The Squizits kit contains eight different forms of fidgets that are quiet, easy to use, and requires motions performed discreetly by the hand. The Squizits are attached to wooden board and include: twisties of rope, pull & braid, the wheel, silent zipper, stretchy button, plugins, beady, and hinge. If the user loses interest in one fidget, there are other options from which to choose in the kit. In addition to the eight Squizits, the kit includes a bull dog clip used to slip in the elastic strap behind the Squizit to fasten onto a variety of surfaces. Any assortment of clips may be applied or one can use an elastic strap to secure the devices onto the fingers. TITLE: Squizits. WEBSITE: Yanko Design.
