---- PROTOTYPE --------- PURPOSE: To create a prototype of a personal mobility vehicle for individuals with lower extremity or mobility disabilities or spinal cord injury. The Permoveh (from Personal Mobile Vehicle) is a powered wheelchair alternative developed by Komori Masaharu, an associate professor from Kyoto University. The Permoveh uses a wheel-in-wheel system that allows the vehicle to travel diagonally and laterally with no need for turning space. The prototype allows wheelchair users to access places that otherwise might have been too difficult with existing vehicles. AUTHOR: James Trew. TITLE: Permoveh personal vehicle prototype can travel sideways, diagonally (video). WEBSITE: Engadget. REF: http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/23/permoveh-personal-vehicle-prototype-c....
