Handprint American Flag & Bald Eagle Craft

Handprint American Flag & Bald Eagle Craft is a therapeutic recreation, sensory integration activity to be done at home between the caregiver and the patient. This can be used for children with learning disabilities, autism, sensory disabilities, or anyone who would benefit from sensory integration.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Red paint
  • Blue paint
  • White paint
  • Off-white paint
  • A piece of construction paper
  • 1 black crayon
  • 1 orange marker

Step Two: Create the American flag by using three red painted fingers, two white painted fingers, an entire palm blue. Then, the caregiver has the patient press their hand firmly near the top left corner of the paper.

Step Three: Go back with white paint (or paper cut outs or little star stickers) add little stars.

Step Four: The caregiver paints the patient's foot brown and steps on the right side of the paper, toes facing downward.

Step Five: The patient paints their hands brown and prints their hand, fingers facing down, palm starting each side of the heel's footprint.

Step Six: Make the eagle's head by covering up the heel of the foot with white paper, with drawn on eyes using the black crayon and a beak using the orange marker.

Step Seven: Finally, draw the flagpole (vertical) to the left of the palm with the off-white paint.
