Reminder Rosie is a voice-controlled reminder clock designed for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Pressing down on the unit or saying “Hello Reminder Rosie” into the microphone located below the LED clock display will activate the unit and “wake” Rosie up. It will respond audibly by saying, “Can I help you?”- a signal that it is ready to receive the user’s request/command. The user and/or his or her caregiver can use the memory aid to set reminders for medications, daily tasks, doctor’s appointments, etc. The user can also ask Reminder Rosie for the time and the day of the week whenever he is unsure. Users and caregivers can record up to 25 6-second reminders, specifying when and how frequently the messages ought to be played. For example, a reminder can be set to go off today only, every day, on certain days of the week, or on a specific calendar date. The reminder will go off at the preset date and time and repeat itself every five seconds for up to 30 minutes, or until the user presses down on the unit or says “reminder off.”
